Paul Bunyan Communications Storm Recovery Update |
Attached is a press release along with a few pictures on an update on the storm recovery from Paul Bunyan Communications. 2 pictures are of the damage sustained at our Bemidji headquarters which is minor when compared to many other homes and businesses. The damage did not impact our operations or services. The other picture is a common site around the area, pedestals surrounded by fallen trees.
Since nearly all of our all-fiber optic network is underground, our network remained operational throughout the storm and storm recovery for those with power and/or unaffected by the storm damage. Our Bemidji headquarters is also open for business as usual.
The biggest issue we’d like to stress is that it is vital to call 811 BEFORE digging to do repairs/tree removal/etc. Many utilities—electric, gas, water, and our all-fiber optic network—are buried underground. Hitting a buried line can be dangerous and may result in further service interruptions. Please remind everyone to Call Before You Dig!
PBTV Customers may notice some intermittent channel outages, even if their area wasn’t directly hit by the storm. While we’ve realigned several satellite dishes, a few were left with unstable foundations. This may cause dish movement during windy conditions and temporary service disruptions until full repairs are made. We are monitoring this closely so we can correct any disruptions as soon as possible.
If a customer’s power has been restored but their phone, internet or TV service is still out, they should call us at 888-586-3100. In most cases, services will resume automatically when power is restored unless additional damage occurred.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks!
Brian
