July 06, 2017
The Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism, board of directors and staff, would like to thank all those that participated in the 2017 Park Rapids 4th of July Parade!

The parade was a huge success with close to 100 units going through! There were 72 registrations for the parade this year. Of that 72, there were a handful that had multiple units (unit=32 ft), up to 9 units, per registration.

Paying tribute to the men and women who enlisted to defend and protect our freedom. There was a fantastic representation from the Military, as always! Grand Marshals this year were; PFC Paul A Grams (in memory of his service, Paul passed away on June 22, 2017),  Seaman 1st Lloyd Lundstrom & Sgt Melvin P Noeske. Thank you, all!

A special thanks to: Our hometown girl, Annette Haas, who sang the National Anthem. To our own Teresa Leshovsky, who did a fantastic job emceeing the parade. Along with the help of Jerry Benham from the Park Rapids American Legion Post 212 who announced the military units.

We were very happy to have the New York Mills Marching Eagles band and the Birak Shrine Kar Kor group with us again. Both providing outstanding entertainment for the crowd! Brought to you by the kind support of our sponsors; CHI St. Joseph's Health, Northwoods Bank of MN, Arvig, Park Rapids Downtown Business Association, Essentia Health, Main Street Meats, Red Bridge Inn & Dad's 1/2 Way There Pizza.

Thank you to the volunteers/ambassadors who gave up good portions of their day to make this parade the success it was. The Park Rapids Downtown Business Association for use of the 2nd Street Stage and for enlisting the right guys, Scott Pickett & Ellis Jones, to get it up and down. To the City of Park Rapids and Police Chief Appel for their efforts and preparation for the days events.  And lastly, thank you to all those who came out to attend!
