Usher in Spring Hike: Exploring the North Country Trail. |
Saturday Mar 19, 2022
Hike time is from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Meet at the North Country Trail Head at the South Entrance Itasca State Park (along Highway 71)
Prepare to celebrate the sun’s transition to the north as we snowshoe “in” the first day of spring! Join the park naturalists on Saturday, March 19 as we Usher in Spring Hike: Exploring the North Country Trail.
Join us for a mid-morning hike along the North Country Trail as we make a loop past Sibilant, Iron Corners and Josephine Lakes. With a seasonal shift from the cold of winter to thawing conditions, the month of March marks the first day of spring. This hike will go past the shores of several lakes, over a rolling landscape and through a mature mixed pine and deciduous forest, an ideal area to potentially see and hear early migrating birds, possibly early flowers or maybe still a lot of snow! Portions of this 3-mile route will be strenuous. Weather and snow/trail conditions will determine the route and duration of hike. Itasca State Park Events Calendar
