The summer Noon Hour concert on Thursday, August, 7, 12:15 to 12:45 at Calvary Lutheran Church, features Blake Cooper Staines, a Bass-baritone and recent graduate of Bemidji State University. Blake received his bachelor’s degrees in both vocal performance and psychology. While at BSU, he had the pleasure of studying voice with Dr. Cory Renbarger. Blake began his performing career as a screen actor during his youth before deciding to pursue music during his college career. While at BSU, Blake performed extensively in multiple vocal ensembles as well as opera theater productions and Galas, most recently performing the title role in The Marriage of Figaro.
This summer, Blake has had the privilege of attending Musica Nelle Marche, a summer language and music program held in Urbino, Italy. During this program, he worked with numerous faculty and colleagues that are currently at DePaul University, where Blake is planning on pursuing his master’s degree in vocal performance this fall. At DePaul, Blake will be studying voice with Dr. Chuck Chandler, who is among the most knowledgeable and renowned vocal pedagogues in the country.
Blake will be featuring most prominently an array of Italian music, ranging from opera arias to art song.
