Join us for an informational day with the world class Minnesota Aquatic Invasive Species Research Center (MAISRC) staff. The update will be held Thursday, June 9, 2022, 9 AM to 3 PM at M-State Campus, Large Auditorium (C101), Hwy 34 East, Detroit Lakes, MN. There is no fee for this event. However, please register for planning purposes at www.prwd.org . Lunch will be provided (free will offering). If you have questions, call 218-846-0436.
Updates from MAISRC will include: starry stonewort research, plant survey database, zebra mussel research, success stories in AIS management, and a MAISRC overview.
Organizations will have educational tables also. For example, the MN DNR Aquatic Invasive Species Specialist will have preserved AIS at their table to help us learn identifying features for early detection.
Minnesota Lakes and Rivers Advocates will have a table featuring the "Stop Starry" program, including information on the CD3 units that have been installed at public water accesses on lakes that have starry stonewort. These units provide tools to help boaters clean and dry their boats / trailers helping to prevent the spread of AIS.
HC COLA, as a co-sponsor of the event will also have an informational table, as will others too....
We hope to see you there at the informational day designed to help us learn even more to protect and preserve our lakes and rivers!
